Development Description

The development of this project was across local authority boundaries and entailed a variety of different facilities within different contexts. A number of new facilities were brought forward including a regional fire arms facility, operational headquarters at Bridgwater and a number of custody suites throughout the force area.

Planning Process

The operational requirements of the Police force had to be measured against the environmental impacts of these developments coming forward both in urban and rural areas. Full justification for the need and operational requirements were provided by CSJ Planning Consultants along with the coordination and preparation of the application packages, their submission and negotiation with the Local Planning Authorities. Public consultation was undertaken with a wide section of the population. The major concerns tended to be around the future operation and management of the Police force as opposed to the impact of the development themselves.
