Development Description

The proposals comprised of the complete renovation of the existing buildings and an element of new-build to the rear fronting Chapter Street, to deliver a 29 No. bedroom boutique hotel with ancillary bars, cafes and restaurants. This proposal will facilitate the complete renovation of the buildings, and its ongoing maintenance will be secured via its sole ownership

Planning Process

Securing Planning & Listed Building consent required extensive negotiation with the Council’s Conservation Officer and Historic England so that a viable use could be delivered, whilst ensuring that the proposals caused minimal harm to the special interests of the designated heritage assets. he proposal has protected and maintained the most significant fabric, details, spaces, and plan-form within the historic buildings and has proposed the restoration of other key features, such as the main stair, which is considered as a significant benefit.
