Development Description

The development proposed deliver an exceptionally high quality, purpose built block of student accommodation ideally located within Bristol city centre. The building continually evolved through the design process, delivering a scheme that responds to the local context, uses high quality materials to respond to its location within a Conservation Area, and took design cues from the forthcoming significant urban regeneration projects within the immediate vicinity of the site.

Planning Process

CSJ Planning initially secured prior approval for the change of use from existing B1a offices to C3 residential. Subsequently, CSJ co-ordinated and produced the planning application and led negotiations with the Local Planning Authority, ultimately securing planning consent via delegated powers. The key considerations in determining the proposal related to the proposal’s impact on the character of the Conservation Area and its visual impact in townscape terms. Both of these key matters were addressed via robust, evidenced supporting documentation provided to support the submission.
