Phase I utilised a redundant office block and proposed the conversion into 22 apartments. It was a smart adaptive proposal. Phase II proposed significant material construction. Echoing the style of the office block featured in Phase I, this scheme utilised a contemporary design providing a provision of 93 apartments as well as an office space of 240 sq.m. Car parking and landscaping was also proposed.
Phase I of the development consisted of a prior approval application that was approved in 2014. Following this, a pre-application was submitted for Phase II. Receiving this and incorporating the recommendations of the council into the proposal, a full application was submitted subsequently. This application received considerable objection from the local community on the grounds of parking and infrastructure concerns. Due to becoming a contentious application, it went to Planning Committee. Despite these, objections and application obstacles, CSJ Planning secured planning permission in early 2018 for the application.
