Development Description

The principle element of this proposal was the residential tower block that would provide a landmark for Swansea improving the legibility and attractiveness of the city. Alongside this high-rise development, there were ground floor provisions of retail spaces to improve the vibrancy of the area and, internal to the tower, an elevated restaurant space. In order for a comprehensive regenerative on the locality, there were significant public realm improvements. Particularly, important to these were new pedestrian links that greatly improved the connectivity of the area.

Planning Process

Intially, as Swansea City Council were the landowner, extensive discussions were taken place. Following on from these and seeking formal written guidance, CSJ Planning submitted a pre-application enquiry. Then public sontuatlions were organised before the formal submission of a full application. As part of this submission, CSJ Planning had an important input into the accompanying Environmental Impact Assessment. After significant negotiation with the Council, the development proposal went to planning committee. Here, it preceded successfully so consent was awarded accordingly.
