Hengrove Park Regeneration Approved by Bristol City Council

Hengrove Park Regeneration Approved by Bristol City Council

The major regeneration of the Hengrove Park area of South Bristol has been given a resolution to grant planning consent by Bristol City Council Development Management Committee. This follows the refusal of the first planning application in February 2019 on a number of key issues. The revised application reduced the number of dwellings from 1500 to 1435 homes, at least 30% of which will be affordable housing. In addition to the housing, the scheme provides for a destination park of 22.2 hectares along with 4.4 hectares of other public open space. Furthermore, there will be sports facilities, a community building, employment floorspace and retail and leisure uses located within the site.

The bringing forward of this site has been a major priority for the City in order to meet housing delivery targets for affordable housing. The scheme will have a major regenerative impact on this part of South Bristol and forms part of a number of schemes coming forward to deliver housing and other uses within South Bristol.

CSJ Planning Consultants acted as planning advisors on the project and agent for the application from inception through to gaining consent.
