Planning permission and Conservation Area consent was secured for the demolition of the existing buildings and re-development of this site following two unsuccessful applications and an appeal dismissal. The planning permission comprised the development of an 8737 sq.m gross of high quality commercial office floorspace with three ground floor retail units, which provides an active frontage onto Victoria Street, a designated secondary shopping frontage. The scheme provides car, cycle and motor cycle parking provision in a new basement car park, accessed from Temple Street. The scheme provides a range of benefits including a new cycle route along Temple Street, additional tree planting on Counterslip and a range of financial obligations towards public transport facilities, improving pedestrian and cycle access to the site, on site labour and local employment training initiatives, public art and the Council’s legible city initiative.
