Recent Public Sector Applications

CSJ Planning acting for Avon & Somerset Police has secured consent from South Gloucestershire to convert the former Pilning Police Station to a single residential unit. (Use Class C3). The site was surplus to requirements and the application had to justify the change of use within an area of flood risk. The site can now be marketed effectively with the benefit of planning permission for an alternative use than the previous sui generis use class police station. Permission has also been secured from Bristol City Council for new storage facilities within the rear yard of Southmead Fire Station for St John Ambulance, who utilise the fire station community room for training purposes. At Nailsea an application has been submitted to North Somerset Council to allow the combined mixed use of the Fire Station to include a Police Beat station and ancillary facilities, providing dual use and full and efficient use of urban land. Whilst these projects are at the smaller end of the scale, they continue the established links CSJ are proud to have with the important public services to deliver their aspirations for redevelopment, renewal and strategic plans. These follow more major schemes delivered by CSJ for Avon & Somerset Police and Avon Fire Services with recent consents for new fire stations at Hicks Gate and Temple Back and the Police major new developments at Patchway, Keynsham, Portishead and Bridgewater.
