Applications submitted to restore grade II listed building

Acting for InScape Design in association with Richard Pedlar architects, CSJ have submitted a planning and listed building application to restore the former Wesleyan Chapel in Kingswood, Bristol. After over a decade of decay and vacancy the Grade II listed building is now in a very poor derelict state and in urgent need of repair. As well as the building the grounds and graveyard are overgrown and in disrepair. It is proposed to fully restore the building and create 15 apartments, with a car park and new memorial garden, which will rehouse old structures, tombs and gravestones. The building is located close to Kingswood town centre and will create significant benefits for the local area, not least in visual appearance and use. One of the biggest challenges is the viability of the works given the prolonged and extensive state of decay and dilapidation. It is hoped that the application can be determined in early 2016.
