Mixed Use Scheme Submitted at Godalming

CSJ Planning, acting on behalf of the Farnison Trust, have submitted this week, via the Planning Portal, a mixed use redevelopment scheme for a 700 square metre industrial unit (Use Classes B1/B2/B8) and a 220 square metre Gospel hall (Use Class D1). The existing site is a vacant former opticians laboratory, which has been on the market since 2009 and comprised mainly older antiquated industrial buildings from 1995 onwards with limited car parking, poor servicing and offering little in the way of visual appearance to the street. The site is located within an established urban area close to the town centre and will provide new improved turning access, designated parking for each use, new landscaping to the frontage and two new modern units. It will deliver full and efficient use of Brownfield land in line with NPPF objectives. The full marketing employment analysis concludes that the proposal will deliver an enhanced quality of employment provision within the Waverley Borough area. CSJ has overseen a pre-application process with the Council and justified the mixed use scheme in relation to Policy IC2 of the saved Local Plan in terms of employment land protection and advised the relevant project team technical experts in completing the submission. It is hoped that the application can be positively determined before the end of the year, so that implementation in 2014 can proceed to deliver these new employment and community service facilities and boost the local economy.
